DevyaniKhobragade, deputy consul general at the Indian Consulate in New York, joined Hudson County freeholders in Jersey City today to raise the Indian flag and help celebrate 67 years of independence for the South Asian nation of more than 1.2 billion people. Assigned to the consulate for at least three more years, Khobragade said she is well aware of the large Indian population in Jersey City, and Hudson County in general. The flag raising at Hudson County Plaza on Cornelison Avenue she said was significant.
