In 1978 he the discovered of florid cutaneous papillomatosis. In 1981 he discovered and described Acral acanthosis nigricans. The 2nd edition of his book, Skin Cancer: Recognition and Management, has been published by Blackwell Publishing. He has also written or edited 10 monographs, and is the author of over 250 book chapters, 450 articles, and 130 other publications.
