Hello Selix, the name of "Blessed", according to my recent knowledge of at least two origins: 1 Old High German "sälch / sälk" = happy from (The Palatinate says "Blessed" still "Sälich" as), first name - so far found from mid / late 16th century - are (mostly) old "classic" German first name as Anna, Mary, William, Gustav, etc. frequent occurrence in Rheinhessen and the Heilbronn, earlier in the former German eastern territories (including cultivation after 1200 by settlers as Hessian ?) 2 from about the end of the 18th century translation of the Jewish family name "Baruch" = "blessed", this name (usually) also Jewish, see Mormon genealogical register. The name also appeared in former German territories, possibly by first Jewish settlement in Russia people living faith.
